+Industry Programme
The + Industry Programme, was developed within the scope of the Strategic Plan for the Economic Development of Braga 2014 - 2026, and fits the plans for private and public investment and for the regeneration of business areas aimed at industry, with the aim of boosting private investment and job creation by 2020, thus valuing the territory and increasing the competitiveness of companies.
The + Industry Programme, today focused on seeking to create the best conditions in each of the municipality's industrial and business areas, was initially designed for intervention in 3 industrial areas (Adaúfe / Pitancinhos, Sobreposta and Celeirós), where three applications were prepared and submitted to the North 2020 Hosting Operations Pre-Qualification contest, (not having been approved, however), with the aim of allowing the regeneration of these industrial areas, through the implementation of a professional park management model, with support to companies and workers and a bet on differentiating their offer, through differentiated and competitive services to companies. Actions were also defined for environmental and urban upgrading, ensuring accessibility, security and logistics.
However, 51 companies installed in these 3 industrial areas, far exceeded their best forecasts for investment and job creation for this period.
With a forecast of making investments around 359 million euros in 2015, these companies updated these forecasts for this same period in 2018, to a value of 528 million euros, with the execution in 2019 of 359.5 million euros.
Regarding employment, the forecast was for the creation of 1599 jobs. However, by 2019, 2169 jobs had already been created.
The + Industry Programme is being monitored by Braga City Council and InvestBraga.
